It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Taylor. She died on March 23, 2011 at the age of 79 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Elizabeth Taylor was born in London, England on February 27, 1932. She quickly shot to fame after her appearance in MGM's Lassie Come Home at the age of 10. By the time she was 12, she had two Academy Award nominations (for National Velvet and A Place in the Sun). She is especially remembered for her roles in Father of the Bride, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Cleopatra, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. In addition to her success as an actress, she was also an avid humanitarian and philanthropist. In 1999, Taylor was the recipient of the American Cinematheque Award for her career achievements in the film industry. She was also the first major celebrity to bring AIDS to the public's attention and has been honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Knight Commander of the British Empire. Taylor is survived by her four children and her nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elizabeth's name to her favorite charity, the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. She will be remembered as a beloved icon and one of Hollywood's true greats.

Death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new. Steve Jobs
