On August 29th, 2007, Richard Jewell passed away at the age of 44. Richard Jewell was a law enforcement officer and security guard from the United States. In 1996, he was hailed as a hero for discovering a bomb set to explode at the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Although he was initially suspected of setting the bomb, an FBI investigation cleared Jewell of any wrong-doing and he was later exonerated. Jewell's professional career included duties as a police officer in Pendergrass, Georgia, and working as a security guard for a number of companies. He was a Civil War buff and an avid outdoorsman, and he leaves behind a strong legacy of heroism. Richard Jewell will be remembered for his bravery and dedication to the public safety of those around him. He will be deeply missed.
