She was a child of Mary and Charles Joseph O'Sullivan, a traveling businessman and former world cycling champion. Maureen entered the spotlight early in life through an amateur contest she won at age 13, and from there, she worked consistently in theater, before taking her place in Hollywood in 1931. Throughout her career, O'Sullivan made over one hundred and thirty appearances in film and television, most often playing spirited young individuals with a comedic streak. She is perhaps best known as Jane in the Tarzan franchise, starring opposite Johnny Weissmuller, and she also served as an original contract player for MGM. O'Sullivan's acting career was highlighted by Golden Globe nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; in her personal life, she was married to John Farrow and had seven children, including Mia Farrow. Her idyllic life in Ireland, spirit of adventure, and sense of humor will be remembered by the many lives she touched.
