On December 6, 1993, Hollywood icon Don Ameche passed away at the age of 85. Ameche’s illustrious career spanned over six decades, and he was celebrated as leading man in both comedies and dramas. On stage, he debuted as the Scarecrow in the stage production of The Wizard of Oz and on the big screen, he is most remembered for his role in the 1985 comedy hit Cocoon. He was an Academy Award Winning Actor for his role in the romantic comedy, “Going My Way” (1944). He also starred in such films as Trading Places (1983), Blind Date (1987) and Always (1989). His contributions to the acting industry have been honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and with a place in the Florida Film Festival Hall of Fame. Don Ameche is survived by his sons Carlson and Alexander.
