Desi Arnaz, a Cuban-American multi-talented entertainer, passed away on December 2nd, 1986, at the age of 69. Born in Santiago de Cuba on March 2th, 1917, Desi formed an act with his first wife, Lucille Ball, in 1940 that continues to bring laughter to many today. He was famously known for playing the character of Ricky Ricardo on the widely popular television sitcom, ‘I Love Lucy’, as well as for his role as bandleader of The Desi Arnaz Orchestra. In addition to his acting career, Desi was also famously recognized for his undeniable business sense. He envisioned the concept of ‘Desilu Productions’, an entertainment studio he co-founded with his wife, Lucille Ball. It is now known to be one of the most successful television production companies to exist. Desi’s legacy will continue to live on, and his memory will be forever cherished by his children and the generations of fans he has inspired.
