John Wetton, legendary singer-songwriter and bassist, passed away on January 31, 2017, at the age of 67. He is widely renowned for his iconic work with the progressive rock band Asia, which spanned over thirty years. Wetton grew up in Derbyshire, England, and developed an affinity for music from a young age. After learning to play guitar and accordion, he began his professional music career at age sixteen. Wetton became a member of the highly-acclaimed British rock band King Crimson in 1972. Throughout the seventies, he worked with artists such as Roxy Music and Uriah Heep, as well as creating a solo career. In 1981, Wetton co-founded Asia with Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, among others.
