Jane Wyman, an Oscar-winning actress who starred in such iconic films as " acceptance Street" and " Magnificent Obsession," died on September 10, 2007 in Santa Monica, California at the age of 90. Her illustrious acting career spanned an impressive 70 years, beginning in 1937 and ending in 2007. She won an Academy Award for best actress in 1949 for her performance in " Johnny Belinda"and was also nominated for four Emmy awards. Born Sarah Jane Mayfield in St. Joseph, Missouri, Jane Wyman made her film debut in 1937 in "Cover Girl," a Ralph Meeker movie. Her many film and television credits include "The Lost Weekend," "Falcon Crest," and Alfred Hitchcock's "Stage Fright." She was also married to the late President Ronald Reagan for more than 8 years from 1940-1948. They had three children; Maureen, Christine, and Michael Reagan. Legacy Wyman was known for her professional integrity, unpretentious manner, and professionalism. She was a role model for young aspiring actors and was remembered by her colleagues as being kind and generous. She will be remembered and loved by many, and her work will continue to be remembered by generations of movie lovers for years to come.
