Gene Barry, a beloved actor, died at 90 years old on December 9th, 2009. Born in New York in 1919, Barry began his career on Broadway, where he starred in over sixty productions. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, he made his mark as a star of film and television, playing leading roles in a range of movies and series. Barry is best remembered for his roles as the debonair title character in the western series Bat Masterson, which ran from 1958 to 1961, and as the irascible millionaire and negotiator in Burke's Law, which ran from 1963 to 1966. He later reprised the role in the 1994 remake of Burke's Law. He also appeared in films such as The 15 Witness (1956) and TV movies such as The Cats (1976). Barry's career spanned seven decades and earned him numerous accolades, including three Emmy Award nominations. Throughout his life, Barry remained close to the theater, performing in plays throughout the United States. Barry is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Betty, and two sons, Michael and Jonathan. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and fans.
