Dudley Moore, beloved actor, comedian and musician, died March 27, 2002, at age 66. Born April 19, 1935 in London, England, Moore quickly established himself as an in-demand entertainer with a degree in music from Magdalen College, Oxford. A member of the esteemed Cambridge Footlights comedy troupe, Moore starred in numerous films, including the smash hits "Arthur," "10" and "Bedazzled." His comedic genius led him to appearances on television and as a frequent guest on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” Moore won two Golden Globe Awards for his work in "Arthur," and was nominated for an Oscar for his composition work on the film. In addition to his acclaimed movie career, Moore was an accomplished jazz pianist, performing with his trio in the United States and the UK. He was a lifetime supporter of the charity organization Adopt-A-Minefield and in 1993 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Dudley Moore is survived by his wife Nicole Rothschild, his four children, and his extended family. He will be remembered as an extraordinary performer who made the world laugh.
