William Harrison Withers Jr., 81, died on March 30th, 2020 in Los Angeles, CA. Bill Withers was born in the small coal-mining town of Slab Fork, West Virginia on July 4th, 1938. He had a career of over four decades and was known for his renowned soulful voice. After serving in the Navy, Bill Withers moved to Los Angeles, CA and started as a factory worker before launching a career in music. He was signed to Sussex Records in 1971, releasing several hit songs like “Lean on Me”, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Grandma’s Hands”. All these songs peaked to the charts, thus earning Bill three Grammy Awards.
