Alan Hale Jr. (1921-1990), beloved actor, passed away peacefully on January 2, 1990 at 68 years of age. The American actor had a long and successful career in both radio and television. He began in 1945 by starring in the radio show of the same name, "The Alan Hale Jr Show". He went on to work in numerous television shows throughout the 1950s and 1960s, from "The Adventures of Superman" to "Lassie" to his most iconic role, that of "Gilligan" in the classic series "Gilligan's Island". Alan went on to make television appearances in The Love Boat and several TV movies, as well as continuing his theater career. In 1989, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for all his work. Alan was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry and will be remembered fondly for his kind heart and acting talent. He will be greatly missed.
