Legendary singer, songwriter, producer and political figure, Sonny Bono, passed away on January 5th, 1998 at the age of 62. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1935 and eventually moved to California where he rose to fame through his popular work with Cher in the musical duo, Sonny and Cher. Together they released a number of highly successful singles, the most notable being 'I Got You Babe'. Bono went on to pursue a career in politics, where he served as mayor of Palm Springs from 1988-1992, before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1995. The talented entertainer made an incredible impact on the music and political worlds, and will be remembered for his remarkable contributions to both.
