SHAMMI KAPOOR (1931 - 2011) One of India's most beloved actors and entertainers, Shammi Kapoor, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2011, at the age of 79. Kapoor was born on October 21, 1931, into a famous Punjabi family in Mumbai. He was the second of six children and attended prestigious St Xaviers College, Mumbai. He made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 1953, and went on to become one of its top stars, acting in iconic films such as Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Kashmir Ki Kali, and Junglee. He was known for his flamboyant persona and comic timing, and was widely acclaimed for his performances. Over the course of his career, he acted in over 100 films. Kapoor is survived by his wife Neela Devi, his two sons, filmmakers Aditya Raj Kapoor and Shaila Raj Kapoor, his daughter Kanchan, and his four grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his larger-than-life presence and for bringing joy to so many fans.
