Ron Silver, actor, producer, and director, passed away on 2009-03-15 at the age of 62. He was known for his stage work as well as roles in films such as The Wonder Boys, Ali, and Reversal of Fortune, for which he won an Academy Award nomination. He also directed films such as Timecop and Edison, and wrote plays including the successful Broadway play, ''The Shirt Story'' in 1989. His career spanned over three decades and earned him admiration and attention from an international audience. Silver was born in New York City in 1947. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, he went on to study acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio and the American Place Theatre. His accomplishments included receiving a Humanitarian Award from Rutgers University in 1997 for his involvement in social causes. Silver is survived by his wife, Bednar, and their two children, Alexandra and Adam. His memory will be respected by his friends and colleagues within the entertainment industry.
