Richard Benjamin Harrison, better known as "The Old Man" on the History Channel's popular reality show Pawn Stars, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the age of 77. Born in 1936 in Danville, Virginia, Harrison was a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He later got into the pawn shop business and eventually opened the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada with his son Rick Harrison. The shop, which he and Rick ran together, quickly became a neighborhood staple and eventually gained worldwide fame when it was featured on the hit television show. The Old Man, as he was affectionately known, was a fan-favorite for his quick wit and no-nonsense attitude in the shop. Aside from Pawn Stars, he was a pilot and enjoyed skydiving, scuba diving, and camping. Richard Harrison was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Rhue Harrison, and is survived by his son Rick, his daughter Debra, his son-in-law Corey, and two grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
