Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, passed away on March 15, 2011, at the age of 41. A celebrated hip-hop artist and one of the pioneers of West Coast rap, Nate Dogg began his professional career in 1992 with the release of his first single, "Never Leave Me Alone." He found success in the early 2000s, collaborating with rap icons Snoop Dogg and Warren G on the hit "Regulate," which reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The success of "Regulate" prompted Nate Dogg to release three solo albums: G-Funk Classics Vol. 1 & 2, Music & Me, and Nate Dogg. Through these projects, the multi-faceted vocalist showcased his skill in genres ranging from hip-hop to blues and R&B. After a slew of notable mixtape appearances and collaborations with some of the most influential figures in hip-hop, Nate Dogg retired in 2010, citing health issues as a major factor. His legacy continues to influence modern hip-hop, and his influence on West Coast rap will be long remembered.
