It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the untimely passing of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 4, 1968, at the young age of 39. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, the second child of Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. A powerful civil rights activist and leader of nonviolent protests, he grew up in a devoted Christian home and attended segregated public schools in Georgia. In 1955, he was inspired to help the cause of civil rights after Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her bus seat to a white passenger. Dr. King became a leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott and an influential figure in the direction of the civil rights movement. Throughout his life, Dr. King committed himself to peace and justice for all, spreading his message and vision of a better America for everyone. He was a courageous advocate for civil rights, promoted non-violent demonstration, and was the youngest man to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Dr. King is survived by his wife Coretta Scott King and their four children. His legacy of peace, justice, and equality will continue to change and inspire future generations. He will be remembered and celebrated as one of the greatest civil rights leaders of our time.

Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life.
