On April 15, 1988, Kenneth Williams, aged 62, died of a liver disease. Kenneth was born in 1926 in Islington, London. A talented theatrical performer, Kenneth found success on the stage and in films. He appeared in the Carry On films and the BBC radio show Round the Horne. Among his many plays, Kenneth shone in the 1956 production of Look Back in Anger, a classic of British theater. Kenneth was known for his wit and mischievousness, for which he was much-loved by fans and friends alike. Behind the humor, however, was a much more complex man. Kenneth began struggling with depression in early adulthood, and frequently visited psychiatrists in an effort to manage his mental health. At the time of his death, Kenneth was married to his third wife, a former nurse, with whom he had one daughter, Abigail. He is also survived by siblings Alma, Uta, and Lionel. Kenneth Williams will be remembered for his well-crafted comedy, delighting audiences with his talent and charm. He will equally be remembered for his struggles with mental health, which he bravely faced with courage, grace and wit.
