John Barry, born 1933, passed away on January 30, 2011 at the age of 77. His legacy includes a lasting impact on the music community as a composer, conductor, and arranger of film scores. With Academy Awards for his work on Out of Africa and Dances with Wolves, multiple Grammy Awards, and work on over 80 motion picture scores, his influence will continue to be felt in the industry. He had a notable collaboration over five decades with United Artists, resulting in a total of 11 Oscar nominations.
