It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jim Croce, who died on September 20th, 1973. He was just 30 years old. James Joseph Croce was born on January 10, 1943 in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to James Albert Croce and Flora Mary Croce. He studied at Malvern Preparatory School before enrolling at Villanova University in 1961. Croce found a deep connection with music at a young age. He began performing in local bars while still in college. After graduating, Croce eventually signed with ABC Records in 1972. His short career yielded five studio albums, one live album, and 16 singles, including hit songs such as "You Don't Mess Around with Jim," "Operator," "Time In a Bottle," and "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown." Croce's work had an immense impact on the music industry and he quickly found immense success. He was nominated for two Grammys and two American Music Awards, and won the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist in 1973. Croce left behind his two sons, Adrian James and A. J. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and musician, and we will remember him fondly.

When I shall die, let it be doing that I had designed. Ovid
