On February 6th, 2011, Gary Moore passed away at the age of 58. Widely respected in the music industry, Gary Moore was an acclaimed Northern Irish musician, singer, and songwriter, best known for his work in the blues and rock genres. Born in 1952 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Moore was surrounded by music from the time of his birth. He went on to develop his repertoire, playing in various bands, eventually achieving fame in his later years from his solo albums, as well as his work with Thin Lizzy and Colosseum II. His composition "Parisienne Walkways" of 1978 was considered one of his greatest solo recordings, and was covered - alongside other works - by the likes of Metallica, Def Leppard, and Ozzy Osbourne. He also worked with a plethora of notable artists, from Albert King to Jon Lord. Full of creativity and innovation, Moore crafted some of the most remarkable and influential blues and rock musical pieces in the industry, garnering himself respect from the industry's giants and leaving an indelible mark on the music world. He is survived by his mother, two children, and grandchildren.
