Died: 3 December 2003 David Hemmings, the acclaimed British actor best known for his breakthrough role in the iconic 1960s movie ‘Blow Up’, has died at the age of 62. He was born on 18 November 1941 in Guildford, Surrey, England. Over the span of a four-decade-long career, Hemmings was well-received for a range of television, stage, and film roles. In the 1966 classic ‘Blow Up', Hemmings starred as a fashion photographer whose photos inadvertently capture a murder, his performance for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. He continued to act on-screen and also took on many directing roles in television and film. He starred in films such as the Titus Andronicus in 1970 and the 1971 critically-acclaimed mystery film Frenzy. He was known to be private yet humorous in his personal life. He is survived by his children, including actors- Dhani and Nolan Hemmings- from his first marriage to actress Louise Sorel. He was later married to Carrie Moore, with whom he founded Hemdale Producers. He was, and will remain, remembered fondly by those who follow the art of film and the thousands who shared in his performances over the years.
