Christa McAuliffe, age 37, died on 1986-01-28. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and attended Framingham State College before being selected to join the NASA Teacher in Space Program in July 1985. She was the first member of the program, representing teachers all over the United States. Throughout her career, McAuliffe dedicated her time to educating and inspiring youth in the STEM field. She was an ardent advocate for equal access to education and was a role model for young people everywhere in the world. A strong legacy of McAuliffe's work in the education field will continue to live on as a reminder of her passion and dedication.
