Legendary actor Charles Laughton passed away on December 15, 1962 at the age of 63. Charles Laughton is most known for his Academy Award-winning performance in The Private Life of Henry VIII in 1933 and his starring role in the classic horror film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1939. Charles Laughton was born in Scarborough, England in 1899. His career began with studying acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and appearing in British theater and film productions before making his way to Hollywood in 1930. In the US, Laughton was known for numerous movies, including Ruggles of Red Gap, Mutiny on the Bounty and Witness for the Prosecution, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Charles Laughton is remembered for his outstanding talent in film, stage, and radio and his remarkable ability to play a wide variety of characters. His genius, compassion, and presence will be forever remembered.
