With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Carroll O'Connor, beloved actor, singer, and producer who passed away on June 21st, 2001 at the age of 76. Carroll was born in New York City. He attended the City College of New York, and during his college years, he worked as a singer in various Irish Tenors groups. After graduating, he began a career in entertainment, appearing in a variety of roles, including Captain Amos Burke in "Burke's Law," and in numerous Broadway plays. In 1971, he rose to fame with his iconic role as "Archie Bunker" in the groundbreaking television series "All in the Family". He brought Archie to life for nine seasons and earned several Emmy awards for his work, including four for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He also won an Emmy for producing the series spinoff, "Archie Bunker's Place". His momentum in television never stopped, as he continued to appear in films and TV shows, such as "The Final Days", "The Man in the Santa Claus Suit", and "In the Heat of the Night". He was also well known for his recurring roles of Judge Morrison Sanders in "Falcon Crest" and Buck Moore in "Madigan Men". Carroll was a kind, passionate, and generous soul, and will be missed deeply by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Carroll is survived by his wife Nancy, son Hugh, and daughter, Ms. O'Connor.
