Andy Whitfield passed away on September 11, 2011 at the age of 39. He was an actor best known for his role as the title character in the series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Andy was born in England, and started his career in film and television in Australia. In 2008 he starred in the Hollywood horror film The Clinic and in 2009 he made his mark with the TV series Spartacus, becoming an international star. His career was tragically cut short when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, in March 2010. He passed away after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Vashti, and their two children, Indigo and an infant son named Judah. He will be remembered for his achievements as an actor, for his commitment to his family and for his courage in the face of adversity. He will be deeply missed.
