Amjad Khan, a beloved Indian actor and director, passed away on July 27th, 1992, at the age of 51. A veteran of Indian cinema, Khan began his career in 1969, playing an important role in the film Pyar Ka Mausam. Over the course of his career, he had leading roles in many memorable films, including Sholay, Dharmatma, and Maqsad. He also directed nine films, including International Crook, Shahenshah, and Jaan Hatheli Pe. He won numerous awards for his performances throughout the years, including the 1975 Filmfare Award for his role in Paapi and the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award in 1989 for Kaarnama. Popular for his unique style and charisma, Khan was well-known for his memorable dialogues, such as “Kitne aadmi the?” in Sholay, “DLF Dost Badnaam Hoge?” in International Crook, and “I Love You, Kishore Kumar” in Jaan Hatheli Pe. Khan’s impact on Indian cinema was immense; a larger-than-life figure onscreen, he is remembered by fans the world over. He is survived by his wife and three children.
