Adam Schlesinger, 52, beloved songwriter, musician, and producer, passed away April 1, 2020. Adam was born in 1966 in New Jersey to Jeryl Schlesinger and Sharon Copaken-Schlesinger and grew up in Manhattan. Adam found success as a songwriter and producer in the alternative rock and power pop genres. He was a founding member of the bands Fountains of Wayne and Ivy and co-founded Tinted Windows. Adam was a Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award-winning songwriter and producer. He co-wrote the Tony-nominated musical "Cry-Baby", as well as the Tony Award-winning musicals "The Addams Family" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” He also wrote two-time Grammy-nominated songs, "Stacy’s Mom" and "That Thing You Do!", which spawned both a movie (in which Adam had a cameo role) and a TV show. Adam was a noted collaborator and wrote songs for artists such as Ringo Starr, Stephen Colbert, Mandy Moore, Brandi Carlile, and Will Lee. In 2010, he was awarded an ASCAP foundation champion award. Adam was an integral part of the musical landscape of the past twenty years. He will be deeply missed by friends, family and fans around the world.
