Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, died at the age of 47 on March 10, 1948. A celebrated writer in her own right, Zelda was best known for her novels "The Flapper" and "Save Me the Waltz". She also published numerous short stories and articles during her lifetime. Zelda struggled with mental health issues throughout her life, and was ultimately diagnosed with schizophrenia. She spent the last years of her life in and out of hospitals, and was reportedly a model patient. Zelda was survived by her husband and their daughter, Scottie.

No one really knows why they are alive until they know what they’d die for. Martin Luther King Jr.
