Jahseh Onfroy, better known as the hip-hop artist XXXTentacion, passed away on June 18, 2018 at the age of 20. XTentacion began his music career in 2013, but rose to fame with his 2017 debut album, 17, and its follow-up album, ?, both of which topped the Billboard 200 album chart and were wildly successful. XXXTentacion’s sound was heavy and experimental, combining punk rock, metal, and hip-hop, and often characterized with personal and introspective lyrics. He collaborated with the likes of Jimmy Wopo, Trippie Redd, Davido, Diplo Justine Skye, and Cypress Hill, among others. Despite his success, XXXTentacion had a troubled personal life. He faced legal charges for domestic violence and a gun-related incident. XXXTentacion will most certainly be remembered for his impact on the music industry, and for inspiring a generation of fans.
