Wallis Simpson, who was born as Bessie Wallis Warfield in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on April 24, 1986 at the age of 89. Simpson married three times and was famously the twice-divorced American woman whose platonic relationship with King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom led to his abdication of the British throne in 1936. She subsequently married the former King in France after his abdication and remained married to him until his death in 1972. Wallis Simpson was noted for her gracious style, often being haled as one of the world's most glamorous women. She was a regular fixture in many prominent social scenes throughout the years for her zeitgeist-defining charm, wit and beauty. Wallis Simpson was highly philanthropic and was credited for her strong impact in communities and advocacy for humanitarian causes. In her later years, she lived quietly in Paris, until her passing on April 24, 1986. She will be fondly remembered by her close family and legions of admirers around the world.

Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough. William Saroyan
