Vishnuvardhan, iconic Kannada film actor, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2009, after a succesful 38-year run in the film industry spanning over 200 movies. He was 57 years of age. Vishnu's illustrious career has not only made him synonymous with Kannada cinema, but also inspired countless generations of actor from the region. He was known for his larger-than-life heroic roles, as well as his versatility in portraying several comedy and villainous roles. As a two-time National Award winner, Vishnu also excelled in several non-film roles, such as hosting numerous shows on television and participating in theater performances. Vishnu is survived by his wife Bharathi, his two sons and several close family members and friends. He will always be remembered for his prolific contributions to the Kannada film industry and for setting a benchmark for generations of Kannada actors to look up to.
