Virginia Mayo (191920–2005) has died at the age of 83. Born Marva Virginia Tidwell on November 30, 1920, to father Carl and mother Susie Elizabeth Belcher in St. Louis, Missouri, Virginia quickly became an actress and dancer. Beginning with performing with the West Coast production of Here's Howe in 1937, Virginia acted in over two dozen films in her career. Her well-known roles include a lead in White Heat (1949), and a major supporting role in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). Notably, Virginia Mayo was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Grand Duchess and the Waiter (1946). Ultimately, Virginia Mayo will be remembered as an aspiring theatre and movie performer. Her sudden death will be mourned by her friends and family.
