Vinod Khanna, legendary Bollywood actor, producer, and politician, died on April 27, 2017 at the age of 70.
From a young age, Khanna showed immense talent in the arts and was a popular actor, producer, and director of Bollywood films. Thus, in 1968, he began his career in the Mumbai film industry, appearing in numerous movies during the 70s, 80s and 90s. His notable film credits include Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Mere Apne, Imtihaan, Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Chandni, Jurm and Dilwale.
In the early 1980s, he took a break from the movie industry and ventured into politics, becoming a Member of Parliament for the BJP from Gurdaspur. Later, he served as the Minister for Culture and Tourism in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
He was also renowned for his stylish attitude and charm. Throughout his prolific career, he was honored with several awards, including the Filmfare lifetime achievement award in 1999 and the National Film Award in 2002.
Khanna is survived by his wife Kavita and children, Rahul, Akshaye, and Sakshi.
