Vincent Gigante, known in organized crime circles as "The Oddfather", died on 2005-12-19 at 77 years of age. During his life, he was a prominent member of the Genovese crime family in New York City's organized crime scene. He was released from prison in 2005 after serving 12 years of a 20-year sentence after being convicted of racketeering and other charges in 1997. Surviving him are his brother's Alfonso, Mario, Salvatore, and Ralph; his sisters Rose and Lucy Caporale; and his sister-in-law Rose Gigante. He is predeceased by his brother Louis Gigante and his sister Louisa Fama. Vincent Gigante will be remembered for his longtime role as a powerful and influential force in the Genovese crime family.
