On August 15th, 1990, the Russian music world lost one of its brightest stars - Viktor Tsoi - much too soon. He was a prolific songwriter and musician, with a unique and instantly recognizable style. Viktor Tsoi was born on June 21st, 1962 in Leningrad. Growing up in the shadow of the crumbling Soviet Union, his music came to represent the new ideas of a young generation. With the formation of the popular rock group Kino, Viktor quickly rose to fame throughout the Soviet Union. His unique blend of rock and roll and new wave is still beloved today. Viktor's songwriting created a new wave of rock music in Russia, one that represented the emerging social and political changes that people dreamed of. His influence can still be felt today in the lyrics of modern Russian bands. Viktor Tsoi passed away on August 15th, 1990 at the age of 28. He left behind a legacy of music that will continue to inspire and captivate generations to come.
