On December 30th, 1971, the world lost one of its most profound minds when Professor Vikram Sarabhai passed away at the age of 52. Vikram Sarabhai was born in India in 1919, and at a young age, he demonstrated a keen intelligence and thirst for knowledge. He received a Physics degree from the prestigious Gujarat College, followed by a Doctorate of Science from Trinity College Cambridge. He was a leader in many fields, including space exploration, cosmic ray research, and launching India's first satellite. In addition to his scientific achievements, Sarabhai was recognized for his work in education, industry, and defense. As Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, he used his creativity and insights to drive India's progress. He was also the founder of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and the establishment of the Centre for Space Physic. He was honored with several awards, including the Padma Bhushan and UNESCO's Kalinga Prize. Vikram Sarabhai will be remembered as a mentor and leader who dedicated his life to the progress of India and the greater world. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will live on forever.
