Victor Mature, legendary actor from Hollywood, died on August 4th, 1999, following a long illness. He was 86 years old. Mature began his successful career in 1936, in a San Diego Theatre's production of "The Terror". His first feature film was also released in 1936, titled "The Melody Lingers On". Throughout his prolific acting career, Mature starred in over 70 feature films, including cult classics such as "My Gal Sal" (1942), "The Shanghai Gesture" (1941), and "The Robe" (1953). Mature earned numerous accolades during his career, such as the Blackpool International Films Award, the Western Heritage Bronze Award, and the Prix d'honneur. Mature died in Rancho Santa Fe, California, and is survived by four children, Jack, Richard, Victoria, and Maria, as well as 11 grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
