It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tommy DeVito of Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 92. Tommy was born on January 15th, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey. He was an accomplished musician and gained recognition as a singer and guitarist with The Four Seasons, a rock/pop band, which he cofounded in 1960 with Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi, and Frankie Valli. His playing was described as “supremely compelling,” and earned him the nickname “Lead Guitar.” Throughout the various stages of his career, he wrote and co-wrote many popular hits, including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Dawn.” He is credited with the arrangement of what became The Four Seasons’ signature sound. He was the first inductee of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. Tommy was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Antoinette DeVito, brother Rudy DeVito, and wife Phyllis Ferigno. He is survived by his sons Anthony and Daniel DeVito. His contributions to music will not soon be forgotten, and his life and career will remain a lasting example of excellence.
