On May 24, 2023, singer, songwriter, dancer and actress Tina Turner died in Zurich, Switzerland at age 84. Turner's career spanned more than half a century and earned her multiple Grammies, multiple Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums, sold-out arena tours, record-breaking international success and a legion of loyal fans. It began with her work with Ike Turner in the 1960s. The two released hits like "A Fool in Love" and "Proud Mary", and brought international attention to their rough-edged sound. After a successful career with Ike, Turner launched her solo career in the mid-1970s. She achieved pop superstardom with songs like "What's Love Got to Do with It" and "The Best" and released albums such as Private Dancer and Break Every Rule. Turner also made an impact in the film industry with roles in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and the television movie, We Love You, Elvis. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, earned a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, and Kennedy Center Honors in 2007. Turner's lasting legacy in music is a testament to her power and influence. She will be remembered by fans across the world, friends, family, and fellow musicians.
