Sumner Murray Redstone, billionaire American media mogul, passed away on August 11, 2020 at 97 years old. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 27th, 1923, Redstone was raised in a successful and prominent family. He attended Harvard College and Harvard Law School. His career began in the US Army and Justice Department, followed by a move to the family business in 1954. Redstone built the business into one of the most recognized media companies in the world, now known as ViacomCBS Talk Inc. In addition to his professional achievements, he served as a long-time member of the Board of Directors of The National Amusements Inc. and also as a founding member of the board of the MIT Media Lab. Redstone is survived by his two children, Shari and Brent, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his former wife, PhyllisRedstone. Redstone left behind a legacy of an extremely committed career, philanthropic endeavors and contributions to the media industry.
