Subhas Chandra Bose, a revolutionary patriot and political leader, passed away at 48 years old on August 18, 1945. Born in 1897 in Cuttack, British India, Subhas Chandra Bose began his revolutionary activities against British rule early on in his youth. After completing his studies in Calcutta, he went to England 1937, where he gain admission into the prestigious Indian Civil Service. However, he quickly resigned the post in April of 1921 in protest of the British Raj. From that point on, he devoted himself to the movements for India’s independence from the British. Bose had many remarkable achievements, including the formation of his own Indian National Army (INA). The actions and tactics of the INA were incredibly influential in the Indian struggle for independence. He led the INA to victory in many battles against the British in Manipur and Burma during late 1944 and early 1945. Though his life ended abruptly, Bose left an indelible mark in India's politics and in the minds of Indians straying into their fight for independence.
