Stephen Covey, esteemed business professor, best-selling author, and public speaker, passed away on 2012-07-16 at the age of 79. Throughout his life, Stephen Covey was committed to helping people reach their full potential. Born in Salt Lake City in 1932, he received a degree in business administration from the University of Utah. He obtained an MBA from Harvard University and later a Doctorate in Religious Education from Brigham Young University. Covey was widely known for his internationally bestselling book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, published in 1989. This book, along with subsequent works he wrote or co-wrote, are credited by many for significantly influencing the business world. He was a professor at the University of Utah’s Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. At the time of his death, he had ten children and fifty-two grandchildren. He was the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including an honorary doctorate from Stonehill College, the Thomas More College Medallion, and the Verizon Leadership Award. His legacy lives on through his body of work and his commitment to improving the world. He will be fondly remembered and mourned by his family, business associates, and fans worldwide.
