Sergio Oliva, the famed bodybuilder and three-time Mr. Olympia, passed away on November 12, 2012, at the age of 71. Born in 1941 in Cuba, Oliva began weightlifting at age 15. He soon rose to fame around the world after winning the Mr. Universe title in 1964, and then achieved international stardom when he won the Mr. Olympia title in 1967, 1968, and 1969. He was widely regarded as the greatest bodybuilder of all time and inspired generations of bodybuilders. Oliva was known for his muscular frame and incredible jump in physique during the late '60s, which earned him the nickname "The Myth". His imposing physique made him a regular feature in bodybuilding competitions. In 2005, after decades of competing, he became the first bodybuilder inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame. Oliva was remembered by many colleagues in the bodybuilding world as a passionate athlete and a determined competitor who was never afraid to take on the world's toughest bodybuilding challenges. He will be remembered as a bodybuilding legend and will continue to inspire generations of bodybuilders.
