Sir Sean Connery, legendary movie star and Academy Award-winning actor, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in the Bahamas on October 31, 2020, at the age of 90. Sir Sean Thomas Connery was born on August 25, 1930, in Fountainbridge, Scotland. He achieved international fame as British secret agent James Bond for seven iconic feature films from 1962 to 1983. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored his performance in Outland with an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1981. A distinguished theater actor who received two Tony Award nominations in the 1950s, he also starred in some of Hollywood's most beloved films, including Marnie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Hunt for Red October. Sir Sean was well known for his philanthropic work and his active role in the United Nations Environment Programme. A passionate advocate for Scottish independence, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Sir Sean Connery leaves behind his wife, Micheline, and son, Jason. He was predeceased by his son, Stefan, in 2006.
