Roy O. Disney, beloved brother of Walt Disney, passed away on December 20th, 1971, at 78 years of age. He was a visionary in the world of film and TV production, and was an integral part of the success of The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as Walt's advisor and business partner throughout their careers, and is remembered for his strong commitment to the success of the company and its family values. After graduating from school, Roy began a career in business with his older brother, Walt, as a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company. He became the company's driving force as the firm's treasurer and managing director, and he often served as a stabilizing advisor while Walt was out of the office. As Walt's partner, Roy held several executive titles with The Walt Disney Company, and along with Walt, is credited with creating some of the company's most beloved animated films. He also served as Chairman of the board of directors from 1943 to 1971, and was extensively involved in the planning and implementation of the company's theme parks. Roy will be remembered for his strength of character, dedication, and commitment to The Walt Disney Company and his beloved brother, Walt. He will be dearly missed.
