It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Kinnear announce his passing on September 20th, 1988, at the age of 54. Born In Wigan, England, Kinnear began his career as an actor on the BBC radio show Voice. He then found success on the stage and screen, starring in over 80 TV series and films, including his memorable performances in ‘The Spy Who Came In From the Cold’ and ‘Help!’ and most notably in ‘The Great Muppet Caper’. He received a Bafta nomination for his role in the 1978 British comedy ‘House of Mirth’. Known for his charm and wit, his trademark catchphrase “Splott!’ became known to generations of television viewers. He was a beloved husband to Margaret, and father to his two children, Karina and Rory. He is remembered for his enduring legacy of work in the entertainment industry, and will be greatly missed.
