H. Ross Perot, the highly successful texas businessman and philanthropist, passed away on July 9th, 2019, at the age of 89. Perot was born in Texarkana, Texas in 1930. Even as a young man, he exhibited a passion for business and intelligence beyond his years. Perot's performance in high school garnered him both the opportunity to attend the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and a scholarship to attend college at the Texarkana Junior College. He then attended the Southwest School of Business and worked as an IBM executive. Perot then went on to found Electronic Data Systems in 1962 and Perot Systems in 1988. He was also the driving force behind the highly acclaimed Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. Perot was known as an astute businessman and philanthropist. His business acumen enabled him to become one of the most successful businessmen and entrepreneurs of all time. He ran for President of the United States twice, with his Reform Party candidacy in 1992 gaining him 19 percent of the popular vote. From then on, Perot and his wife Margot devoted much of their efforts to philanthropy, supporting a wide range of causes from health research to the arts. He is survived by his wife, Margot, their three children and eight grandchildren, and countless friends who have benefited from his spirit, brilliance, generosity, and determination.
