It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rory Gallagher on June 14, 1995. He was 47 years old. Rory was an iconic Irish blues-rock guitarist and vocalist renowned for his talented musicianship and intense live performances. His illustrious career spanned more than two decades, beginning in the early 1970s with his arrival on the international music scene as a blues-rock guitarist. He released 12 studio albums during his lifetime, in addition to several live and compilation albums – all of which received critical acclaim. Born in West Donegal, Ireland, he soon moved to Cork and formed his first band, Taste, in 1966. Rory has been cited as an early influence of legendary rockers such as Led Zeppelin, U2, and Thin Lizzy. Rory's life-long admiration of the blues led to several acclaimed solo albums, including his debut album, Rory Gallagher (1971) and Top Priority (1979). He was widely acknowledged as an innovator and a respected figure in the music industry. Rory's death is mourned by fans and loved ones around the world; his talents, passion, and spirit will not be forgotten.
