Ronnie Corbett, a beloved British comedian, actor, and writer, passed away on March 31, 2016 at the age of 85. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on December 4, 1930, Corbett had a successful career spanning more than five decades. After beginning training as a banker, Corbett decided to pursue acting after venturing to London, and soon became part of the distinguished British comedy scene in the 1950s. He was best known for The Two Ronnies, which he performed with Ronnie Barker. The two became comedy icons with their witty sketches and jokes, and the show ran for 16 years from 1971-1987. He was also known for his guest appearances on sketch shows such as The Frost Report, and subsequently for acting roles in films, such as Sorry! and Fierce Creatures. Corbett was held in high-esteem in the British comedy sphere, receiving many accolades and awards throughout his career. In 1978, he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and in 2012 he was knighted for services to entertainment. Corbett is survived by his wife, Ann Howe, and his daughters Sophie and Emma. He will be remembered fondly by fans around the world.
